o a subtle tribute to the 80s that does not ride on nostalgia. Porinju Mariyam Jose is Joshiy making an 'angry-young man' out of Joju. Nylah as Mariyam, the strong, independent and the 'damsel-capable-of-causing-distress' reminds you of Manju Warriar in Kanmadam. Nylah transformation into the character is evident. And that lack of ease in the character shows.

Chemban Vinod is truly the star performer here. He comes in with panache and stays the ground as Jose - seamless. Jake's Bejoy's background score and music, with no trace of the 80s, works well with the narrative. The visuals and lighting by Ajay David Kachapilly's are good, especially the Godfather-esque God's-eye shot.

Porinju Mariyam Jose is Joshiy's tribute to the 80s, the time and the movies of the time. Time and again, without being too nostalgic about the time, he pays tribute to Bappi Lahiri's disco, Kishor da's melody, Kamal Hassan, Sridevi and Amitabh Bachchan. By referencing the climax of Moonram Pirai he also subtly hints at the sort of ending you could expect. The plagiarism dispute aside, Porinju Mariyam Jose has a good story at hand from Abhilash Chandran.

A good cast giving us a reasonably good performance, and a hitmaker, Porinju Mariyam Jose gets tad bit predictable. But one may watch it for the spectacle at offer by the narrative genius and the unrequited love story in the sidelines.

Margamkali Malayalam Full Movie Watch Online Free:- Margamkali is the traditional dance form of Kerala Christians, but for director Sreejith Vijayan and team, it is the final game one plays when there is no other way to attain a goal. The romcom, which features Bibin George and Namitha Pramod in the lead, narrates a simple love story of Sachi and Oormila. Both have their own inferiority complexes about their physical appearences.

Sachi belongs to a rich and affluent family. His parents enacted by Shanthi Krishna and Siddique do not want him to work. They want him to be their messenger as they haven’t spoken with each other in the last 20 years due to certain misunderstandings. Sachi also has two friends - Antappan, a drunkard, and Tik Tok Unni, a lassi shop owner who is desperate for love, enacted by Baiju and Hareesh Kanaran, respectively. After a girl named Oormila rejects Unni, he tries to get revenge and seeks Sachi’s help. A love failure victim himself, Sachi begins talking to Oormila, but the twist comes with another Oormila entering his life.

This comedy entertainer, tells multiple love stories at the same time. The love between Sachi’s parents, Tik Tok Unni’s enthusiastic love for the girl whom he meets through an app and the love between two childhood schoolmates. Bibin George, Namitha Pramod, Siddique, Shanthi Krishna and Baiju showcase a decent performance.

Music has been interestingly weaved into the film. Sachi’s father, a music buff keeps playing different instruments every time he appears, and this goes in sync with the situations. Seems like Gopi Sundar and Sreejith have worked together to bring the mood out well.

A one-time watch, written by Sasaankan Mayanad has a few LOL moments. However, the film puts out a lot of conflicting ideas. At one point you see the hero hesitating to write a love letter to help his friend as he says that he wants to woo his girlfriend. Like a hero, Sachi says, “I hate people using slangs like veezhthuka, valakkuka, item and charakku about their romantic partners.” And throughout the movie, we see Sachi’s friends using the same language.

Similarly, the film also puts out a lot of sequences which intend to throw light on the ill effects of body shaming and questions the concepts of beauty. Unfortunately, at the same time, it has a lot of sequences where the sidekicks are being humiliated in the name of colour, shape of their physical features and so on. Sreejith Vijayan’s previous film Kuttanadan Marpappa too had similar sequences. Nevertheless, it would have been nice if he had tried to sort out the confusions on the core idea of the movie with the scribe before filming it.

There is nothing remarkable to speak about the technicalities of the movie, which make for a timepass film but definitely offers nothing for intellectual stimulation.

Review: We have always seen and heard of stories of fans of legends including sports stars. The movie Sachin is about the life of a youngster whose life was destined to have similar situations as that of legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. It is the affection towards the Master Blaster that made government clerk Vishwanadhan name his new-born, Sachin.

Naturally, Sachin grows up loving cricket and even finds love in a girl named Anjali, who is four years elder to him. The characters of Anjali and Sachin are secure in the hands of actress Anna Reshma Rajan and Dhyan Sreenivasan, respectively. Their chemistry is cute and the director has shown them as a couple who are not scared to admit their love in front of their parents. In fact, Anna’s character is portrayed as a the stronger one among the two.

Though passionate in cricket, Sachin and his team are proverbial losers in his hometown. There comes a time when his fate intertwines his love for Anjali and the game, and the decisions he makes take the plot forward.

The film is packed with many laugh-out-loud moments that can be enjoyed by audience of any age group. Actors Aju Varghese, Sarath Kumar, Hareesh Kanaran and Ramesh Pisharody have played their comic parts well, with hilarious counters. Interestingly, Ramesh Pisharody as Anjali’s brother must be appreciated for his realistic serious and comedy persona. The actors, Renji Panicker, Parvathy, Maniyanpilla Raju and Kochu Preman support the central characters well.

The film is weaved on the themes of friendship and love by director Santhosh Nair through a well-drafted script by SL Puram Jayasurya.

The first part that introduces Sachin is a bit of drag and had predictable scenes. To convey Sachin’s passion in cricket, the director has intentionally added a few cricket match segments that bode well with the movie. But when it comes to romantic scenes, we could see that old clichéd love smitten hero who experiments every way to lure the heroine. This could have been approached differently by the makers. The film also lacks a strong villian. Despite its flaws, it has enough to warrant a few good laughs in the theatre.

Review: Ittymani was born in China, yet brought up in Kunnankulam, Thrissur. And, 'Ittymani : Made in China' is his story. Debutante director duo Jibi and Joju have more than two decades of experience in Malayalam cinema to boost of associates and assistant directors. So the expectations from their debut would be high given that they've roped in an impressive star cast, including Mohanlal, KPAC Lalitha, Siddique, Raadhika, Aju Varghese, etc.

Ittychan, aka Ittymani, quite like the eponymous Pranchiyettan, is a wealthy, yet thrifty businessman who wants to create a good name and image for himself among his peers. But everything Ittychan puts himself upto ends up creating more trouble for him. And his Chinese roots (he was born and raised till age 10 in China) earn him the title of 'made in China' which is also used to taunt his credentials as a "duplicate". How he gets in and out of each crisis makes the crux of the film.

Ittychan's love-hate relationship with his mother (KPAC Lalitha) makes for much entertainment, even as they share their love for China and the time they spent there and even converse in Chinese. Ittichan's bachelor status also leads to some humour. But largely the humour that depends on wit-wordplay and sexual innuendos falls flat or, at times,evokes a laugh as a knee-jerk reaction. Aju Varghese and Hareesh Kanaran, the quintessential comedy factories are mere ornaments.

But speaking of ornamental casting, Honey Rose's character is the true decoration on the script. Her character Jessy has the least consequence in the story that even if her portions are dissected, it wouldn't really affect the movie. The distasteful puns mostly irk than amuse. Even the references from iconic Mohanlal movies like 'Thoovanathumbikal' et al are a disservice to the man and his fans from they way they have been conceived. The story is forceful in trying to be feel-good. It plays out like a stretched out comedy sketch done in poor taste. When you try to aim at highlighting the abandonment of an elderly woman by her children, having her refereed to as a "second-hand ambassador" with "good mileage and pick-up" is absolutely repugnant. And in true "masterpiece-style" trying to polish over it by making the protagonist make a sweeping speech about "respecting elders" in the climax doesn't help. By just preaching to respect elders while not walking the talk isn't helping anyone. The forced goodness in the story sticks out like a sore thumb making the lengthy run time of the movie hard to keep up with.

The songs in 'Ittymani: Made in China' are a respite to the otherwise stretched out crass-fest. And Mohanlal, inspite of looking plastic, is the star he is for a reason. Mohanlal is Mohanlal, and nothing and nobody can take that away from him. His combinations with KPAC Lalitha and Siddique are the only things that make the 2 hour 30 plus hour movie worth anything.

'Ittymani :Made in China' is a weak story and a weaker script that even the Mohanlal cannot save. It's a poorly made amalgamation of every stereotype in the book, that neither Mohanlal, nor his fans deserved. So catch it at your own risk.

Brother’s Day Malayalam Full Movie Watch Online Free:- In the beginning of the movie, during the character introduction of Prithviraj, who enacts Rony, a catering employee in Fort Kochi, his friend Munna (Dharmajan) asks him to smile. And Munna says, "ethra nalayi ninne ingane kayilimundu uduthu chirichu nikkana kandittu" (It has been a while since we saw you smiling like a simple guy wearing kayili mund). This is the story Kalabhavan Shajohn narrates in his debut directorial; the tale of a simple young man and those around him.

Rony is a happy-go-lucky guy who works at a catering company. Munna is his best buddy. During the course of their work, the duo encounters different kinds of people, including the characters of Madonna Sebastian and Chandi (Vijayaraghavan) who bring a funny twist to the story.

Parallel to the story of Rony is the tale of a shady character enacted by Prasanna, which brings further sudden twists to the mood of the story every now and then. With the very first shot, we can tell that Prasanna has criminal inclinations. He is a psycho, blackmailing and honey trapping people. How Rony and Munna get connected to the female characters, including of Prayaga Martin and Aishwarya Lekshmi, makes the movie.

There is a lot of comedic dialogues, some deliberately added to trigger connections, such as the mention of Prithviraj’s directorial Lucifer. Some strike a chord, some don’t. Every character in the film has a backstory wrapped in deep emotions. Hence the movie jumps from one emotion to another quickly. There is laughter, fear, tears and suspense. In a way, all the formulaic elements that a commercial movie needs.

Most of the songs are situational and 4Music has done it well. However, the background score which the team has used to sustain the suspense of the story, gets mechanical and exasperating. Cinematographer Jithu Dhamodhar has done his job well.

Almost the entire cast - be it Dharmajan, Prayaga, Prasanna, Madonna and Kottayam Naseer - has done justice to their roles. Prithviraj, who has essayed comedic characters in films such as Pavada and Amar Akbar Antony, tries his best to slip into local funny guy-mode, but does not quite crack it. However, he does stunts well and performs the emotional sequences perfectly. Aishwarya Lekshmi showcases a fabulous performance as Santa, however, it reminds us of her role in Varathan. Prasanna, who has made the psychic villain haunting, too repeats the traits of his sociopathic character Balki in Thiruttupayale 2.

Actor Shajohn proves his skill as a director by creating a suspense thriller and shows the promise for more projects. However, the one question to be asked to the scribe-cum-director is, why does a movie always need the abused women to be rescued by a man (in this film, the saviour is known as Puli)? In this day and age, when women are standing up for themselves, it is quite natural for the audience to question why aren't women capable of protecting their ‘honour’.

Review: New age issues and novel story telling are considered essential today to win over film audience, for whom every other story or theme are familiar in one way or the other. At such a juncture, Shubharathri's director K P Vyasan narrates a simple tale, which can't claim to offer anything path-breaking. However, this is a movie that still manages to move the audience, in an age-old yet feel-good fashion, which will appeal to the family audience, the best.

Muhammad (Siddique) is barely hours away from boarding the flight for Haj. His house is swarmed by well-wishers and family members and the mood is that of joy and peace. Until someone shows up, to change many things.

The film's first half is presented in the conventional family drama format, with enough reasons for the audience to trust Muhammad's character. His personality is shown in contrast with that of others from his community, who indulge in destructive endeavours quoting holy texts. Siddique effortlessly plays the man, emoting his dilemmas, good heartedness and more, pulling the heart-strings of the audience, and he is the hero of this sweet-hearted tale.

Dileep plays Krishnan, who faces an insurmountable challenge in his life when he gets introduced to the audience. He too has given a splendid performance as a simple, family man and it is great to see him get under the skin of Krishnan so well. The man's pain engulfs us too in the scenes in which he is thrown into jail with two others, and the in one towards the climax, thanks to Dileep's well-balanced presentation of Krishnan. The film also delivers a very valid message through its story, in an engaging manner. The songs are also melodious and fit well into the cinematic turf.

To mention the flaws, in comparison, the first half is stretched unnecessarily and could have been crisper. There is also a scene in the movie, which shows a woman taking revenge on certain people by filing a false sexual harassment case with the police. It has absolutely no bearing on the story. While one can't deny the existence of such cases, it is also impossible to brush it off without thinking why the makers wanted to squeeze that in, into this film. One can also see similar instances belittling the #MeToo movement in the recent films of both the lead actors, and for anyone who feels strongly about the importance of supporting women who speak out, such scenes can come across as unwarranted and distasteful.

Shubharathri is for those who is in the mood of a family drama and also don't mind a generous serving of some hearty messages for humanity.

Seven Movie Review: The first scene of Seven is as intriguing as its title – where Ramya (Nandita Swetha), drenched in rain, goes to a police station to file a complaint against her missing husband Karthik (Koneru Havish). The smart, but alcoholic cop (Rahman), after listening to her for a while, starts guessing what happened in her life. He tells a shocking Ramya that Jennie (Anisha Ambrose), another girl, too, had filed a similar complaint about Karthik, and she claims him to be her husband. The curious missing case which transforms into a fraud case becomes more complex when one more woman, Priya (Tridha Chowdhury), comes up with a similar complaint. The cop and his subordinates get the shock of their life when a mentally ill person informs police that the missing person had died decades ago.

The plot looks interesting on paper, and seems to have ample elements for an engaging thriller. But the weak screenplay, numerous logical loopholes and the lack of believability factor make it unappealing. A flashback sequence involving a partly engrossing character arc of Regina Cassandra becomes tepid because of the ineffective execution. There are a few twists towards the end, but we get exhausted by then. The movie also suffers from nativity issue as it is primarily shot in Hyderabad and other places in Andhra/Telangana, but we are told that the story happens in Chennai. Though there are sign boards in Tamil in some scenes to make up for it, most of the scenes indicate that it isn’t a Tamil movie though the lip sync issue was managed in most of the scenes.

Cinematography is a positive factor in the film, which had elements of thrill, romance and revenge not served in the right proportion. Regina plays her part well, while others are okay.

Kidu Review: Choosing movies featuring youngsters and school life as the central theme is a tried and tested formula for debutant directors. Mostly because of the low budget as well as the simplistic storyline.

Director Majeed Abu's directorial Kidu is a simple tale of school life told through five Class 11 students, played by Minon, Ramzan, Ayman, Althaf and Vishnu. The first half of the film, which also has Leona Lishoy and Sudhi Koppa in supporting roles, focuses on the mischiefs of the students - their tiff with teachers, their lackadaisical attitudes to exams and their budding romances.

With the entry of Leona's character Annie, who is their class teacher, the boys' attitude starts to change. She slowly succeeds in making them responsible academically as well as personally through her faith in them despite the other teachers' opposition. However, just when they are getting their act together, the students are shocked to their core by an incident. Ramzan and Minon, who play the characters Vyshakh and Vishnu respectively, get the bulk of dialogues and perform their characters well. The others give them ample support. The movie's story though is start-stop of sorts and it never once gets going. Ironically, it is the lengthy first half, which is string together by snippets from school life, that is more engaging than the latter part which follows the students on a mission of their own to track down a preparator of a crime that changed their lives.

The frames are good, especially the ones in the second half when the students are chasing the criminal as well as the fight sequence in the end. However, the sound department is a letdown and the dubbing takes away from the zest of the youngsters onscreen.
