Mamangam Malayalam Full Movie Watch Online Free - For almost three centuries, Valluvakonathiri has been sending suicide squads who valiantly sacrifice their lives trying to bring down the Zamorins at the festival of Mamangam. Now, two more from Valluvanadu try to accomplish what many have failed in. But are they enough against the might of the Zamorin army?

Mamangam Review: "We aren't meant to live as slaves. Our tradition is to die as warriors," says an elderly member of a Valluvakonathiri family as they debate among themselves if they have to send the remaining two sons of Chandroth family as chaverukal for the next Mamangam. And then, when the two from the Chandroth family are already on their quest, another elderly member, who had tried the same feat and failed, tells them, "This wish to sacrifice their own sons to protect their tradition has become an undying quest for those in Valluvanadu." Mamangam, the movie, swings between these two alternating emotions.

The film, directed by M Padmakumar, is a drama punctuated by two action sequences. Set against the backdrop of the Mamangam festival held in the 17th and 18th centuries at Thirunavaya, the film tells the story of Chaverukal (suicide squads) as they try to kill the Zamorin ruler and reclaim what is rightfully theirs.

The story follows two members from the Chandroth family of Valluvanadu, ably and intensely portrayed by Unni Mukundan and Master Achuthan, as they set out on their quest in what could be the final attack against the Zamorins. But are the two enough to overcome the odds?

While Mamangam is billed as a big budget movie and the makers have evidently splurged some bucks on those sets for the action scenes, the bulk of the movie rides on dialogues. That's why the many expecting it to be filled with action scenes with Mammootty are bound to feel let down. In fact, the megastar's screen time is limited and his best portions come when he carries off an effeminate avatar. His gravity-defying leaps might be a turn off in the beginning, but at least the makers put in extra effort to explain that in the latter half.

Shankar Ramakrishnan's dialogues are heavy, and after a point it becomes over indulgent. The screenplay is also lumbering and this becomes clear when the death of a foreign merchant has three different explanations, with the third one spilling over to the second half. That should have been a clear sign that the instead of digressing and focusing on the details, the director should have just kept it short and made it more engaging.

Master Achuthan gets points for his action scenes, especially the one at the end which he carries off all by himself. Unni too maintains a stoic look throughout the film, lending authenticity to his role. Siddique as the Zamorin advisor and Prachi Tehlan as the courtesan Unnimaya, who aids the Chaaverukal, play their limited parts well but don't leave a strong impact.

M Jayachandran's music is good and Sachit and Ankit Balhara's background score complements the proceedings. However, the drama does feel like a lost opportunity, considering the talent that was on offer, the stories they could have mined and fictional elements they could have inculcated, while making it a festive release.

Akashaganga 2 Malayalam Full Movie Watch Online Free - The sequel to the two-decade-old horror thriller Akasha Ganga narrates the story of Arathi Varma, daughter of Maya and Unni, from the earlier flick.

Review: As Puthumazhayai, the song from Vinayan's Akasha Ganga, which was released in 1999, is played on screen and the late actress Mayuri appears on screen, one could not help feeling nostalgic. After 20 years, when the director makes the sequel, he serves it up with a mix of nostalgia, humour and horror.

Arathi Varma (Veena Nair) is the daughter of Unni (Riyas) and Maya (Divya Unni). The MBBS student is an atheist and doesn’t care about the stories told about her house or the evil spirits that reside there. Accepting the challenge that her friends Gopi, Titus and Jithu put forward, Arathi decides to communicate with the soul of her mother who died post delivery. Will that awaken the evil spirit that has been locked into submission by tantric mantras years back? Will the evil spirit once again be successful in carrying out the revenge against Arathi's family? The answers to these questions makes the movie.

The director who has also scripted the film has successfully woven a horror comedy with Dharmajan, Vishnu, Thesni Khan, Hareesh Kanaran, Praveena, Riyas and Sreenath Bhasi. The set design by Boban gives the right ambience for the scary sequences, and Prakashkutty's cinematography, Bijibal's music and the director’s efforts have created a watchable sequel.

The actors have done justice to their roles and Veena Nair, who plays Divya Unni's daughter, at times resembles the actress. The graphics that recreated actress Mayuri and the old stories are commendable. It is refreshing to watch a scary movie with comedic elements in Malayalam.

However, one cannot call it as a complete horror-thriller as the scary elements don’t convey enough horror. For those who are nostalgic and are still scared of the ghosts in Akasha Ganga - the long haired spirit walking around in a white sari - the second part is an entertainer. It is interesting to see how Vinayan has narrated the period shift without leaving any loopholes. It is a treat for Akasha Ganga fans.

Helen Malayalam Full Movie Watch Online Free - A smile can create wonders and sometimes even save a life. As Helen responds to her dad with a smile after regaining consciousness, the audience too find themselves beaming.

Review: Helen (Anna Ben) is a happy go lucky yet responsible girl raised by her single dad Paul (Lal). Theirs is a lower-middle class family that has suffered through financial and emotional difficulties following the mother's illness and demise. To pay back debts and have a peaceful life, Helen aspires to migrate to Canada.

The dad-daughter duo share a beautiful bond. Things go wrong when an annoying cop Ratheesh Kumar with his moral policing instincts calls up Paul to inform that she is having an affair with Azhar (Nobel Babu Thomas). Finding it difficult to face her dad, she stays back at her workplace and accidentally gets trapped in the freezer. Will she manage to survive?

Newbie director Mathukutty Xavier's movie tells the tale of a girl's survival that spans five hours of a night. It centres around Anna Ben, who showcases the entire panoply of emotions on her face, especially in the second half. A sense of claustrophobia creeps in as she breathes, shivers and takes each step in the freezer. The adorable relationship of the dad and daughter make the sequences outside the freezer, where the panicked dad and friends are struggling to find Helen, dripping with emotion.

The elements, the scribes Alfred Kurian Joseph, Nobel Babu Thomas and the director himself, use in the first half to establish the plot and to make Helen and her dad endearing, are effective while the struggle continues inside and outside the freezer.

However, Helen does test one's patience after a while. The survival strategies are good, but cliched. The rat in the movie reminds one of that in Rajkumar Rao's Trapped. While Anna Ben, Lal and Aju Varghese compete with each other to showcase remarkable performances, debutant Nobel struggles to catch up.

With a lot of close-up shots and colourful visuals, Anend C Chandran's cinematography amps up the movie's pace. Shaan Rahman comes up with some fab music.

Helen is a typical family film from the Vineeth Sreenivasan school of filmmaking which is enjoyable and empathetic. The feel-good movie, though a survival drama, would definitely bring a smile to the faces as the curtains come down.

Jack & Daniel Malayalam Full Movie Watch Online Free - Jack is a sneak-thief who robs the robbers, ie. steals from black money hoarders. Daniel Alexander is called in to help Kerala Police to catch Jack hot on the trail

Review: Malayalam cinema has had the cat-and-mouse chase between a cop and a thief aplenty. This is a genre where Sathyam Anthikad-SN Swamy combo came out with a cult classic 'Kalikkalam' and much later Joshiy -Sachy-Sethu combo came out with 'Robinhood' which catered to the new-gen palate at their respective times. 'Jack and Daniel,' written and directed by SL Puram Jayasurya, is ambitious of fitting into that very genre.

Jack is a businessman by day and he moonlights as a burglar who steals black money from the high ranks of bureaucracy. Daniel Alexander, an incorruptible police officer, is deputed to nab him. The film is one chasing the other.

Dileep has played enough thieves in and as Meesa Madhavan, Gopi in Vettam and numerous other characters for us to see him play similiar characters. So, for anyone who has seen him play all of these characters this film and his character Jack hardly offers anything new. Arjun, the action-hero from Tamil, who plays the rugged and righteous cop Daniel Alexander is on deputation to nab Jack. Anju Kurian, the female lead, plays Sushmita Daniel's love interest. The story allows her with very little space in terms of performance. In fact the story, lackadaisical as it seems, moves too slow for it to be termed an action-thriller. Peppered with nationalism and patriotism, the 'Jack and Daniel' makes a feeble attempt at redemption in the second half, but manages nothing of the sort. The jokes with misogynistic flavour are crass. Sexual innuendoes are also thoroughly inept for family consumption and are aplenty. The story moves too slow for anyone to care. And when it finally unfurls, it manages to leave gaping holes of logic.

Saiju Kurup is the much-needed comic relief and is possibly the best chance of a solace in the film. Ashokan also comes with his share of slapstick comedy. Peter Hein makes a thoroughly unnecessary special appearance in the movie, but does a fantastic job as the choreographer of the stunt sequences. Though, if that is your cup of tea, towards the end the film mirrors James Bond stunts that defy logic, reason and physics. Cinematography is pretty clean and engaging.

Even for a Dileep fan 'Jack and Daniel' has nothing new to offer. It is old wine in an old bottle, in that it's the same good cop chasing a good thief story in a predated narrative which we have all heard and seen far too many times.
