Vikruthi Malayalam Full Movie Watch Online Free - After two sleepless nights spent at a hospital, deaf and mute Eldho nods off while travelling back home on the Kochi Metro. As his co-travellers mistake him for a drunk passenger, one man posts his sleeping photo on social media and all hell breaks loose.
Review: In the time of racist, sexist and political trolling on the internet, we are all guilty of sharing them just for laughs, often without thinking too much about the ones on the receiving end. But, the worst kind any day are the trolls that attack people with disabilities. And we witnessed one of the worst cases when a speech and hearing impaired Kochi man, Eldho, was photographed and shared online after he fell asleep due to fatigue, a few years ago. Vikruthi, though its title doesn’t echo the seriousness of the issue aptly, paints a picture on those who troll and those at the receiving end.
Eldho (Suraj Venjaramoodu) and his wife Elsy (Surabhi Lakshmi) are both deaf and mute. After spending two nights in the hospital where his daughter was admitted, Eldho travels back home on Kochi Metro, only to sleep on the seat. Co-traveller Sameer (Soubin), clicks and shares Eldho’s photo online, mistaking him to be someone in an inebriated condition. Life changes for both of them, but how?
Often, when common people are the ones who turn the butt of online ridicule - like in the case of Eldho and Malayali policeman Salim who suffered a stroke on Delhi Metro - the trolls are a lot more merciless compared to the ones celebrities are subjected to. Many netizens share it sans ulterior motives and Vikruthi aptly paints a layered, perfect picture of it all. It shows how such ‘innocently’ clicked photos malign people’s reputation and also how the ‘photographers’ aren’t always really ‘villains’. Like it’s often said, it’s all a result of a child given fire to play with. While we are keen and adept at handling modern devices, who ponders over the ethical side of it? Vikruthi is a depiction of this sad situation.
Suraj Venjaramoodu is an expert at making his audience both laugh with his comic antics and cry through an expert portrayal of emotions. He plays Eldho convincingly, and doesn’t make a mockery of the disability. He is amply supported by Surabhi Lakshmi. Soubin makes us laugh in the first half and keep us on the edge of the seat all stressed out in the second, and newbie Vincy too impresses.
The film moves on to a predictable, dragging turf at many junctures in the second half. The intention of including certain scenes is understandable but as the viewers aren’t unaware of how it all pans out, the sequences just result in stretching the narrative too much. But, the flaws are largely forgivable.
Vikruthi makes us laugh, cry and moreover apply a lot more empathy before sharing that troll that looks innocent and tempting on your phone screens. The film might not be heavy on star quotient, but merits a watch.
